2025 in Gaming - What's in store for us this year?

TL;DR – It’s gonna be huge!

This year’s gaming lineup is stacked with must-play titles! Expect long-awaited sequels to legendary series, nostalgic remakes, a brand-new Nintendo console… and, of course, a true gaming milestone—the 10th anniversary of The Witcher 3!

To fuel your excitement, we’ve put together a roundup of the hottest releases and biggest events of the year. You won’t want to miss this! 🚀🎮

I. The 10th Anniversary of The Witcher 3

The Witcher 3 turns 10 this year – can you believe it? As Polish gamers, we're beyond proud of CD Projekt Red's monumental success, which put our country on the global gaming map. Even after a decade, the game still feels like it’s aging like fine wine (and blood… of course), continuing to deliver an unforgettable experience both in Poland and around the world.

And let’s not forget about the soundtrack – every Witcher fan is also a fan of its music. Seriously, who doesn’t find themselves tapping their feet to Lélele or Banana Tiger? 😉 CDPR knows this well, which is why the crown jewel of the anniversary celebrations will be an epic concert tour featuring Percival. To say we're excited is an understatement – we're practically on fire, like Crow's Perch!

The tour kicks off in May with concerts in Poland and Boston, then moves across Europe and North America, like the Wild Hunt itself. No one’s escaping 😎

For all the details about the tour and other anniversary events, check out the official website.

II. Nintendo Switch 2

While there’s still a small chance that the launch of Nintendo’s new console could be delayed, the latest official reports confirm it’s set for release this year. We’ve already seen the trailer, and a full online hardware presentation is scheduled for April 4th. In the U.S., you can also sign up for the “Nintendo Switch 2 Experience” (also in April), where you’ll get to try the console hands-on. We’re eagerly awaiting the official list of titles for the new Switch – we’re already expecting a new Mario Kart edition, along with the exciting Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Nintendo has teased that the lineup will feature exclusives, ports of legendary series, and games from the previous generation of the Switch.

Stay tuned for the latest updates on the official website.

III. GTA 6

GTA VI is arguably the most anticipated game of the last decade. After over ten years of waiting, we're finally getting a continuation of the legendary GTA V, which has sold more copies than all but Minecraft. It could even break that record! Like with the Switch 2, there’s a chance the release may be slightly delayed… but after waiting this long, a few more months won’t hurt. No need to panic just yet! While official information is still scarce, a flood of rumors about the storyline and gameplay has already hit the internet, supposedly coming from leaks. We won’t dive into speculation, but we highly recommend checking out the trailer and visiting the official website!

IV. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

If you were at last year’s PGA, you already know all about KC:DII 😁. The official release is set for February 4th, and let's just say we might be taking some extra time off that day 👀. No surprise there – the first game in the series has earned a loyal following in our country. After all, who doesn’t enjoy wandering through medieval Europe with a sword or axe, battling through history? From humble peasant to powerful noble, your path to greatness will be packed with epic adventures. Curious? Check out the latest trailer and the game’s official website!

V. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach

There are a few names in gaming that seem to guarantee success – and Hideo Kojima is undeniably one of them. While the exact release date for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is still under wraps, it’s confirmed for this year, and there’s already a captivating, nearly ten-minute trailer available online (seriously, you’ve got to watch it 👀). In this sequel to the beloved original, we once again take on the role of Sam Porter Bridges, who, after the events of the first game, continues his journey – this time in Mexico. What challenges await him? With Kojima at the helm, you can bet it won’t be boring!

VI. Doom: The Dark Ages

Dum-dum-DOOM! Has the final chapter been written for this fan-favorite series? HELL NO! Doom: The Dark Ages brings an exciting, fresh vision—serving as a prequel to the 2016 Doom reboot. Gameplay-wise, it shifts away from Doom Eternal to revisit the series’ roots, while introducing a host of new weapons and, among other things… a mecha-dragon. It’s a bit of a bummer that the release isn’t until May 15th—just imagine a hellishly epic long weekend.

VII. Elden Ring: Nightrein

Elden Ring: Nightrein isn’t your typical Elden Ring sequel. While it still takes place in the same (or rather, parallel) universe, the gameplay takes a surprising turn. This time, you’ll be facing off against terrifying bosses alongside your friends, as Nightrein shifts the focus to multiplayer, unlike its predecessor. If you're worried this will turn into another wallet-draining service game, don’t worry—FromSoftware has promised a fully finished product at launch, and Elden Ring: Nightrein will NOT be a live service title.

VIII. Borderlands 4

Cosplayers, get your makeup ready! After more than five years, cel-shading is back – and so is Borderlands 😉. Gearbox has teased that they plan to expand the RPG elements of the gameplay, while still keeping what fans love about the series. So, expect a mix of fresh features and the classic formula we all know and adore. At the recent Game Awards, the studio even shared some gameplay footage, so while we don’t have an exact release date yet, it’s definitely closer than we think.

IX. Subnautica 2

Subnautica made an incredible leap from a promising indie title to a mainstream sensation. Its unique formula captivated players, especially survival fans, offering a fresh twist on the genre and delivering a truly eerie, horror-like experience that only the depths of the ocean can provide. We all fell in love with Subnautica, and I’m confident we’ll do the same with its sequel – especially since Subnautica 2 will introduce co-op gameplay for up to four players. Plus, we’ll be exploring an entirely new planet, which means fresh creatures, plants, and breathtaking underwater vistas.

X. Monster Hunter Wilds

Not into swimming but still eager to team up for some epic hunts? Monster Hunter Wilds is just what you need! Capcom is bringing us a new chapter in the Monster Hunter saga, blending the best elements of MH Worlds and MH Rise. Get ready for a fully co-op adventure with unique monsters, each reacting to changes in weather and time of day. The release is just around the corner in February, so it’s time to gather your crew!

XI. Split Fiction

Calling all It Takes Two fans! We know you’re out there! The creators of that co-op masterpiece are back with a new potential hit – Split Fiction, which made waves at the Game Awards 2024. We’re eagerly waiting to dive in! The game blends fantasy and sci-fi elements, offering countless levels, puzzles, and challenges that you’ll need to conquer together. Don’t miss out – head over to the official website! The release is set for March 6th, and here’s the official trailer:

XII. Assassin's Creed Shadows

The latest Assassin's Creed installment has sparked its share of controversy, but as the fourteenth entry in one of the most iconic game franchises, it deserves a spotlight. This time, AC takes us to feudal Japan, where we’ll play as samurai Yasuke and kunoichi Naoe. What’s new? Expect weather to have a significant impact on gameplay, along with an enhanced stealth system, deep RPG elements, and new weapons that will shake up combat mechanics. The release is in March, and the trailer is already out. For more info, check out the official website:

XIII. Civilization VII

It’s almost here! Civilization VII is releasing on February 11th, and fans are in for a treat. The biggest change? The ability to switch civilizations during gameplay. With the new progression system, we won’t have to deal with the awkward clash of civilizations and eras—like an American in a medieval court. On the downside, the leaders you choose won’t be tied to their original civilizations… and sadly, there’s no Polish leader... at least, not unless modders step in 😅
